And just like that, summer is becoming a memory.
Over the past few months, I’ve been capturing some of the activities we’ve been enjoying on film, and I wanted to share some of the things we did as we entered the late summer months.
The theme was definitely blooming flower fields and seasonal baking. I ordered a vintage jam pot from France which did not arrive until after strawberry season so that will have to wait until next year. But I’m still contemplating late season peaches – we’ll see if that actually happens.
We grilled peaches and baked a White Nectarine Tart (which was supposed to have had white peaches, but all the white peaches in our local markets were so hard there was no way we could bake with them). So we used nectarines instead.
We took the drone out and flew it over a lavender field at JB Family Growers in Woodinville, WA and stopped by our favorite dahlia field in Fall City.
Just next door to the lavender farm, we visited Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery to see if we could capture their gorgeous estate and grounds on camera. What we found was a major landscape overhaul as they had planted hundreds of rose bushes over the whole property, and were not only hosting their Summer Concert Series but Tea in the Garden. What a wonderful surprise.
So everything seemed to somehow revolve around flowers and fruits. Not a bad way to spend the summer months.
